A duck swimming in Puget Sound, illuminated by the setting sun. Seahurst is a penninsula pointing out into Puget Sound from just south of the Seattle border. The park has limited trails through the forest, but is mainly known for it's rocky beaches.
Seagulls and ducks are especially fond of the place, and make for good practice with a camera's autofocus tracking system.
In the background, the sun is setting below the tree line in nearby Vashon Island, in the sound between south Seattle and Olalla, the halfway point from Gig Harbor to Port Orchard.
The island itself is close, but not as much as it seems in this photo; the D60 has a 1.6:1 "crop factor" magnifying the center of the lens image, giving the 300 mm lens the angle of view we associate with a 480 mm lens for 35 mm format. The 1:1 of "full frame" nature of the 5D (responsible for the similar photo at right, from Golden Gardens) is what prompted my upgrade.
