Descending from the Yosemite's eastern ( Tioga Pass ) enterance, Lee Vining Canyon Highway is about ten miles through a steep canyon to Mono Lake. The bottom of the road is lined with at least half a dozen campgrounds, some of which are open when the pass itself is snowed over.
