After a short stay in Golden, on the outskirts of Denver, it was time to head into the mountains. This photo was between the Kennosha Pass and Buena Vista, west of the Continental Divide. The highway meets up with US 50 south of Buena Vista ( at Poncha Springs, near Salida ), which leads west to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison, and still further to Monarch Pass.
