Big Basin is a state park along California's Central Coast, not far north of Santa Cruz. The park strattles the Coastal Range and stretches out to the Pacific ocean. The park is most famous for its redwoods and a few waterfalls, but this is also a great place to camp. There's even a hike from the outskirts of San Jose to the coast that travels mostly through Big Basin. Most of the park is lush and temperate rainforest, approached from the eastern side of the Coastal Mountains, including where this photo was created, but the park extends to the Pacific, with climates ranging from beach to redword forest.
