Waiting for the Fireworks

From Capitol Hill, it looks like the fireworks are exploding directly above the Space Needle, so Kerry Park seemed like the ideal location. Unfortunately, from here, the Lake Union fireworks show looks much further away, to the right, beyond the edge of the frame. The fireworks can be seen from this location, but would never have shown up in the photo.

The red glow in the foreground is glowing smoke from fireworks that had already gone off.
